High-Speed 2.6 GHz Radiofrequency Band Incoming: Time for Mobile Network Service Providers Holding IPFR to Step up

The government has decided to improve the overall quality and speed of Indonesia’s broadband internet access, as high-quality broadband is seen as essential for effective radiofrequency spectrum management, as outlined under the country’s 2025 - 2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional/RPJMN). In order to achieve this goal, the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (“Minister”) is currently preparing a Draft Regulation (“Draft Regulation”) that will serve as the basis for the utilization of the 2.6 GHz radiofrequency band in accordance with International Mobile Telecommunications (“IMT”) standards.[1]
