Govt. Will Require PSE to Draft DPIA for All Online Products, Services and Features Accessible to Child Users

In January 2024, the government introduced the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions (“Law 11/2008”) through the issuance of Law No. 1 of 2024 (“Second Amendment”).[1] Among the various provisions that were newly introduced under the Second Amendment, this new framework has now mandated that electronic system providers (Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik – “PSE”) must ensure the protection of all children who utilize or who have access to electronic systems (“Systems”), including the mandatory application of appropriate technologies and technical/operational measures, which should be applied from the development phase up until the organization of Systems themselves.[2]
