Govt. Issues Second Amendment to Regulation on Import Policy and Provisions

  • The Minister of Trade has issued Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 7 of 2024 on the Second Amendment ("Second Amendment") to Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 36 of 2023 on Import Policy and Provisions, which has been in force since 6 May 2024.
  • A representative from the Minister of Trade, Mr. Arif, has stated that the provisions set out under the Second Amendment comprise three parts, specifically: 1) Goods that are sent by Indonesian migrant workers; 2) Personal goods of passengers; and 3) Import policy evaluations of several industrial raw material commodities.
  • In terms of imports of goods that are sent by migrant workers, no limits have been set regarding their types, amounts and the condition of goods that are being sent, provided that the migrant workers in question have registered through the SISKOP2MI.
  • Similarly, in terms of the personal goods of passengers, no limits have been set in terms of their import types and amounts, with the exception of dangerous goods and goods that are prohibited from being imported. Furthermore, the Second Amendment also offers ease of import for certain commodities.
