Ethical Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence Finally Comes into Force: Public and Private PSE Now Included as Guidelines Subject

In early December 2023, the Minister of Communication and Informatics (“Minister”) had begun drafting a Draft Circular (“Draft Circular”) on Ethical Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence (“AI”), which if it finally comes into force, aims to ensure that AI technology has ultimately a positive impact on relevant parties whilst simultaneously mitigating any negative impacts or losses that may arise from the use of said technology.[1] It should be noted that Hukumonline’s Legal Research and Analysis Team previously summarized the various AI-utilization mandates that are featured under the Draft Circular in the following edition of Indonesian Legal Brief (“ILB”): “Six Forms of Ethical Values Introduced for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies”.
