Nine Core Priorities Drive Indonesias National Action Plan on Violent Extremism

The President of the Republic of Indonesia recently issued Regulation No. 8 of 2026 (“Regulation 8/2026”) on the National Action Plan for the Prevention of and Countermeasures to Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (Rencana Aksi Nasional Pencegahan dan Penanggulangan Ekstremisme Berbasis Kekerasan yang Mengarah pada Terorisme – “RAN PE”) for 2026 – 2029. As its title suggests, Regulation 8/2026 sets out a four-year implementation period for the RAN PE, which will serve as a comprehensive set of guidelines during that period for application by both central and regional governments, while also encouraging public participation.[1]
