Overview
The panel of judges at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court recently acquitted advocate and academic Junaedi Saibih of two charges that had been brought by the public prosecutor. The first charge concerned the alleged bribery of a judge, while the second charge related to the alleged obstruction of investigation in three corruption cases (i.e. a tin case, a Crude Palm Oil [“CPO”] case and a sugar import case).[1] Junaedi was indicted along with two other individuals, namely former TV channel crew member Tian Bahtia and Adhiya Muzakki, who were alleged to have been involved in efforts to influence public opinion and interfere with the handling of the cases.[2]
