Overview
Originally initiated by Indonesia’s House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat – “DPR”) in 2018, the Draft Bill (“Draft Bill”) on New and Renewable Energy (Energi Baru dan Terbarukan - “EBET”) has attracted considerable public attention, particularly from businesses operating within the green energy sector, as the Draft Bill is expected to further expedite the development of EBET across the country.[1] To date, the DPR and its various government counterparts have made several versions of the Draft Bill available to the general public. In this regard, it should be noted that the 2020 version of the Draft Bill (“2020 Draft Bill”) was previously tackled by the Hukumonline Legal Research and Analysis team in the following edition of Indonesian Law Digest (“ILD”): “Draft Bill on New and Renewable Energy: Towards a Sustainable Future”.
