National Work Competency Standards for Environmental Management System Now Aligns with ISO 14001:2015 Transition Deadline Set at January 2026

The Minister of Manpower (“Minister”) recently issued the Decree No. 260 of 2025 (“Decree 260/2025”) on the Stipulation of Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia – “SKKNI”) for the Category of Mining and Excavation in the Main Group of Crude Oil, Natural Gas and Geothermal Mining in the Environmental Management System (Sistem Manajemen Lingkungan – “SML”)[1] sector, which has been in force since 29 July 2025.[2] Previously, matters relating to the applicable SKKNI for the SML sector were addressed under Decree of the Minister No. 281 of 2016 that bore the same title as Decree 260/2025 (“Decree 281/2016”), which has now been repealed and replaced.[3]
