In order to follow up on specific mandates that address the development of custom practices, as previously introduced under the framework of Law No. 10 of 1995 on Customs, the Minister of Finance (“Minister”) recently issued Regulation No. 50 of 2024 on Procedures for and the Supervision of the Transportation of Certain Goods Within Customs Areas (“Regulation 50/2024”), which requires customs officers (“Officers”) to supervise the transportation of commodities that can be categorized as certain goods (“Certain Goods”) within customs areas.[1] This new supervision regime aims to prevent export smuggling by sea and encompasses various activities that include loading, departure, transportation, arrival and unloading processes.[2][SP1]
