BI Stipulates Requirements for OPT Participants Looking to Become Primary Dealers

Bank Indonesia (“BI”) is hopeful that the implementation of primary dealers (“Dealers”) will ultimately support the role of BI during the organization of monetary operations, thus ultimately strengthening integration into the money markets and foreign-exchange markets (collectively referred to as “Markets”). In order to maximize the power of Dealers, BI recently issued Regulation of the BI Board of Governors No. 14 of 2023 on Monetary Market Dealers (“Regulation 14/2023”),[1] which has been in force since 27 October 2023.[2]
