On 28 April 2022, the Minister of Trade (“Minister”) decided to impose a temporary ban on exports of Crude Palm Oil (“CPO”); Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (“RBD Palm Oil”); Refined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Olein (“RBD Palm Olein”); and Used Cooking Oil (“UCO”) through the issuance of Regulation No. 22 of 2022 (“Regulation 22/2022”).[1] This export ban has ultimately had a positive impact on national average prices and supplies of this important staple commodity. In this regard, the national average price of cooking oil has dropped from Rp. 19,800 to Rp. 17,200 – Rp. 17,600 per liter, while supplies have increased from 64.5 tons/month to 211,000 tons/month as a result of the export ban.[2]
