Legal Framework for Battery-Powered Electric-Vehicle Industry Updated

In an effort to accelerate the development of the battery-powered electric-vehicle (“Electric Vehicles”) industry across Indonesia, the Minister of Industry (“Minister”) previously issued Regulation No. 27 of 2020 on the Specifications, Roadmap and Domestic Component Level Calculations for Battery-Powered Electric Vehicles (“Regulation 27/2020”).[1] However, as the provisions set under Regulation 27/2020 required updating, the Minister has now issued Regulation No. 6 of 2022 (“Regulation 6/2022”), which repeals and replaces Regulation 27/2020 and which updates various provisions that relate to the following specific areas:[2]
