Govt. to Reschedule Implementation of Analogue Switch Off

The acting Director-General of Post and Informatics Operations at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Dr. Ismail, recently announced that the planned first stage of Indonesia’s Analog Switch Off (“ASO”), which was originally set to commence on 17 August 2021, has now been rescheduled along with the implementation of the other planned ASO stages.
This rescheduling is the result of several concerns, specifically: 1) The continued focus of the government and all public-sector operations on the handling of and recovery from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; 2) Input from communities and other public parties; and 3) The technical readiness of stakeholders to migrate to digital television broadcasting.
Details of the rescheduled ASO will also be incorporated into the forthcoming amendment to Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology No. 6 of 2021 on the Organization of Broadcasting, which will be announced shortly. _(Kominfo)
