LPS Role in Overcoming SIB?s Problems Redefined

The Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan – “LPS”) has issued Regulation No. 1 of 2017 on the Handling of Systematically Important Banks with Solvability Problems (“Regulation 1/2017”), as an implementation of the following provisions:[1]

1.	Article 33 (2) and Article 41 (3) of Law No. 24 of 2004 on the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation, as amended by Law No. 7 of 2009; and
2.	Article 22 (2) of Law No. 9 of 2016 on the Prevention and Control of Financial-System Crises.[2]

With these objectives in mind, Regulation 1/2017 sets out various provisions which apply to the following areas:
