Bank Indonesia Reregulates Provision on Monetary Operations

Bank Indonesia (“BI”) has introduced a new initiative, which it hopes to help to maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate, through the issuance of Regulation No. 18/12/PBI/2016 (“2016 Regulation”) on Monetary Operations. With this end in mind, the 2016 Regulation redefines provisions relating to the following matters:

a.	Organization of monetary operations;
b.	BI commercial papers as a monetary-operations instrument;
c.	The settlement of monetary-operation transactions; and
d.	Financial-market monitoring.
