Overseas Assistance Offices for Migrant Workers

The Minister of Manpower and Transmigration (“Minister”) has issued Regulation No. 6 of 2013 on Guide to  Establishing an Overseas Private  Placement Agency Representative Office for Indonesian Migrant Workers (“Regulation”), to protect Indonesian  migrant workers during overseas employment in their country of assignment.[1]

The Regulation implements Article 20 of Law No. 39 of 2004 on the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (“2004 Law”). Article 20 mandates that private placement agencies (Pelaksana Penempatan TKI Swasta – “PPTKIS”) must have a representative office in the’ countries to which they send migrant workers..
