Guidelines on Imposing Sanctions for Environmental Violations

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has issued Regulation No. 2 of 2013 on Guidelines on Imposing Administrative Sanctions for Environmental Protection and Management (“Regulation”). The Regulation implements Articles 63 and 76 (1) of Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management.[1]

The Regulation aims to protect the environment from possible pollution and damage. Furthermore, the Regulation aims to create a deterrent effect by imposing administrative sanctions on businesses/activities that violate environmental laws and regulations (Art. 2).
