The Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal – “BPJPH”) has issued Regulation No. 4 of 2026 on Verification of Foreign Halal Products Conformity Entering the Territory of Indonesia (“Regulation 4/2026”).
Although Regulation of the Government No. 42 of 2024 (“Regulation 42/2024”)[1] had already mandate any products, including foreign products, entering Indonesia to be halal-certified,[2] this Regulation 4/2026 mandates that all foreign products entering Indonesia undergo a mandatory verification of halal products (Pemastian Produk Halal)[3] conducted by BPJPH-appointed Inspection Agencies at the country of origin before any import customs declarations are submitted.
