Scope of Supervision Expanded: E-Cigarettes Now Categorized as Additive Substances Alongside Other Tobacco Products

In 2024, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (Badan Types Pengawas Obat dan Makanan – “BPOM”) introduced Regulation No. 9 of 2024 (“Regulation 9/2024”) on Guidelines for Follow-up Actions to Supervision Results for Medicines, Pharmaceutical Ingredients, Narcotics, Psychotropics, Precursors and Addictive Substances (collectively referred to as “Controlled Substances”), which is aimed at ensuring the thorough oversight of Controlled Substances in order to prevent any deviations during the importation, production and distribution of any such products.[1]
