Renewable Energy Certificates: New Avenues Open up Within the Commodity Futures Trading Sector

In order to put a framework in place for the physical market trading of electrical power deriving from renewable energy (“Trade”) through the futures exchange (“Exchange”),[1] The Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Badan Pengawas Perdagangan Berjangka Komoditi – “Bappebti”) has decided to issue Regulation No. 11 of 2024 on Procedures for the Implementation of the Physical Market Trading of Renewable Electricity Through the Futures Exchange (“Regulation 11/2024”), which has been in force since 20 November 2024.[2]
