- The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan (“Coordinating Minister”), has announced that the government is set to introduce a new Regulation of the President on the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers across the country. The Coordinating Minister has affirmed that the government is planning to simplify the process whereby farmers gain access to subsidized fertilizers. Under the forthcoming framework, farmers will no longer need to secure approvals from multiple officials.
- Elaborating upon the above initiative, the Coordinating Minister stated that the forthcoming framework, which will provide further ease of access to fertilizers for farmers working across the country, will set out a direct distribution scheme, the scope of which will extend from relevant manufacturers to groups of farmers’ organizations (Gabungan Kelompok Tani – “Gapoktan”). However, a distribution quota for subsidized fertilizer will also be set by the government.
- The Coordinating Minister has also stated that the subsidized fertilizer quota will be introduced in the form of a Decree, which will then be sent to PT Pupuk Indonesia. The subsidized fertilizer will subsequently be distributed to Gapoktan nationwide. (ANT)
