- The Deputy of Macroeconomics and Finance at the Coordinating-Ministry of Economics, Ferry Irawan (“Deputy”), has affirmed that the government is currently preparing various schemes under the Community Business Credit Program (Kredit Usaha Rakyat – “KUR”) in order to support the president’s priority programs (e.g. food resilience, free nutritious meals and housing).
- In terms of the food resilience program, the Deputy recently explained that historically speaking, 30% of the total disbursed KUR has been enjoyed by the agricultural sector. Meanwhile, in terms of the food manufacturing and infrastructure sector, the Deputy has stated that the KUR may be utilized in order to support regular features within the sector, including micro- and small-scale KUR.
- Micro- and small-scale KUR may be utilized under the free nutritious meals program in order to finance business actors as providers of food and beverages, as well as catering services. Moreover, KUR may also be used in order to support farmers and fishermen as the main contributors of raw materials for use in the free nutritious meals program.
- Meanwhile, in terms of the housing program, the Deputy has explained that KUR may play a role in the expansion of connectivity infrastructure and may be used as support for housing development within Indonesia’s new capital city of Nusantara, including projects such as apartment units, travel agencies and more. The Deputy further emphasized that in terms of the downstreaming and industrialization of natural resources, the government plans to introduce special KUR schemes that will be tailored to specific sectors or groups within industries, such as agriculture, plantations, fisheries, tourism and others.
