- The Ministry of Finance ("Minister"), working in conjunction with the Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure (Indonesia Australia untuk Infrastruktur – "KIAT") and PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia ("PII"), has launched three initiatives aimed at strengthening the sustainable infrastructure financing ecosystem. The Director-General of Financing and Risk Management at the Minister of Finance, Suminto, has stated that these initiatives affirm the government’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s infrastructure financing policies in order to ensure that they are adaptive to global and actual challenges.
- The three initiatives break down as follows: 1) The launch of the book “Menapak Jejak Pemerintah dalam Pembiayaan Infrastruktur”, which documents the long journey and challenges associated with national infrastructure development; 2) The launch of the Revised Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Manual, which will serve as a set of guidelines that should ensure the implementation of ESG aspects across all infrastructure projects; and 3) Government policy supporting innovations, which will focus on sustainable infrastructure financing.
- Suminto has emphasized that sustainable infrastructure development, at its core, must consider social and environmental aspects in a balanced manner.
