Government Introduces New SKKNI for Information Technology Audits: 18 Professional Competency Units Now Available

The Minister of Manpower has issued Decree No. 231 of 2024 on the Stipulation of Indonesian National Competency Standards (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia – "SKKNI") for the Category of Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities of the Main Group of Head Office Activities and Information Technology (“IT”) Audit Management Consulting ("Decree 231/2024"), which has been in force since 12 September 2024.
Outlined comprehensively under the Appendix to Decree 231/2024, the SKKNI for IT audits will now serve as a reference during the drawing up of national qualification levels and the organization of education and training programs, as well as in relation to competence certification. It should be noted that the SKKNI will be subject to processes of review every five years or whenever such processes are deemed necessary.
A total of 18 relevant competence units are outlined under the Appendix to Decree 231/2024, including: 1) Determination of the scope of IT audits; 2) Analysis of IT audit risks; 3) Development of IT audit plans; 4) Allocation of resources for IT audits; 5) Identification of IT controls; and so forth.
