- The 19th Plenary Meeting of the House of Representatives ("House") which was held on 4th June 2024 mark the moment where the House approved of the Draft Bill on Welfare of Mothers and Children During the First Thousand Days of Life Phase ("RUU KIA"). In total, the approved draft contains a total of nine chapters and 46 articles.
- According to the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection ("Minister") I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, RUU KIA is a tangible manifestation of the state's presence in improving the welfare of mothers and children for future generations.
- The Draft Bill addresses the main point, as follows : 1) Change of the title from Maternal and Child Welfare to Maternal and Child Welfare in the First Thousand Days of Life Phase; 2) Definition of a child in the first 1,000 days of life; 3) Leave for working mothers who give birth for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months; 4) Leave of the husband to accompany his wife for two days to 3 days; 5) Responsibilities of mothers and fathers and the government; 6) Assurance to mothers with special vulnerabilities.
