Ministry of Industry Prepares Supporting Regulations for Import Arrangement Policies

The Minister of Industry has completed work on a new Draft Regulation that will support the implementation of Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 36 of 2023 on Import Arrangements and its Amendment. According to Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, the new Draft Regulation will ultimately support the existing Regulation of the Minister of Industry and will address industrial commodities in line with presidential orders.
Furthermore, Mr. Arif also stated that Regulations of the Minister of Industry that set out procedures for the issuance of technical considerations for commodities such as apparel, footwear, iron, steel, traditional medicines, health supplements, cosmetics and electronics are now being enforced through the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW) portal, specifically in relation to import request processes. However, the issuance process for tire commodities is still being conducted through the state news.
It also should be noted that the Ministry of Industry continues to do its best to serve all parties requiring technical considerations by referring to national needs and production. Mr. Arif also expressed the hope that collaborations between industrial agencies, regulators, importers and associations will be pursued as part of efforts aimed at the fulfillment of domestic requirements.
These initiatives are expected to increase the resilience of Indonesia’s domestic industrial base and hopefully strengthen the rupiah’s foreign exchange position, which is currently weakening. _(ANT)
