BPOM Plans to Amend List of Vitamins and Minerals Permitted for Use by Pregnant and Breastfeeding Mothers

The National Agency of Drug and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan – "BPOM") has introduced the Draft Amendment to Regulation of BPOM No. 32 of 2022 on Criteria and Procedures for the Registration of Health Supplements ("Regulation 32/2022").
The Draft Regulation has now amended Appendix VII to Regulation 32/2022, which sets out a comprehensive list of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other ingredients that are permitted for limited use in health supplements.
However, the Draft Regulation has also confirmed that any applications for the registration of health supplements containing selenium for use by pregnant and breastfeeding mothers that were submitted prior to the enactment of the Draft Regulation will continue to be processed based on provisions set under the original framework of Regulation 32/2022
