Overview

In a bid to strengthen the effectiveness of import controls, the Minister of Trade ("Minister") previously issued Regulation No. 36 of 2023 on Import Policy and Provisions (“Regulation 36/2023”) which provides provisions on requirements, licensing processes and exceptions to import requirements.^[1] However, in an effort to prevent the proliferation of passenger luggage from abroad being traded illegally within the country, the Minister decided to amend Regulation 36/2023 through the issuance of Regulation No. 3 of 2024 ("Amendment") in the beginning of 2024.^[2]
