P2PK at the Ministry of Finance Urges Parties to Utilize Public Accountants Services Through QR-Enabled LAI

In an effort to ensure the validity and legality of independent auditors’ reports (Laporan Auditor Independen – "LAI") that are issued by public accountants (Akuntan Publik – "AP") and/or public-accounting firms (Kantor Akuntan Publik – "KAP"), the Head of the Center for Financial Professional Development (Pusat Pembinaan Profesi Keuangan/P2PK) at the Ministry of Finance ("Ministry") is now urging parties to utilize AP that issue LAI that utilize quick response ("QR") codes through the issuance of Circular No. SE-4/PPPK/2024 ("Circular 4/2024"), which has been in force since 22 February 2024.
As briefly outlined above, Circular 4/2024 urges parties that utilize audited financial statements that have secured opinions from and that have been signed by the relevant AP and/or KAP to confirm the validity of their LAI by scanning the QR codes that feature within said LAI. Upon a successful scanning of said QR codes, LAI users will be directed to the Ministry’s Pelita website, which will display a total of nine forms of information that specifically relate to LAI.
The above-mentioned displayed information will include the following: 1) The name of KAP and the relevant client; 2) Period of the financial statement; 3) Number and date of the LAI; 4) AP that is acting as the person in charge; and 4) Relevant information on the LAI (i.e. relevant auditory opinions, total assets and net profits/losses).
