Forest Reclamation Guidelines for Used Forest Areas: Three New Measures Introduced

The Minister of Environment and Forestry ("Minister") has issued Circular No. SE.1/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/1/2024 on Guidelines for Forest Reclamations for Used Forest Areas, which have been in force since 17 January 2024.
In essence, forest reclamations that are undertaken in the wake of the use of forest areas should be implemented in accordance with the General Plan and Annual Plan for Forest Reclamations. The new circular addresses the following specific matters: 1) Procedures for the preparation and assessment of forest reclamation plans, as comprehensively outlined under Appendix I to the Circular; 2) Stages for the implementation and reporting of forest reclamations, as comprehensively outlined under Appendix II to the Circular; and 3) Procedures for assessments of the success of forest reclamations, as comprehensively outlined under Appendix III to the Circular.
