New BPOM Guidelines Introduced for Processed Food Registrations: Ensuring Compliance and Effective Processing

In line with the ongoing development of business licensing processes within Indonesia, the country’s Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan – “BPOM”) has now adjusted various provisions that specifically address the registration of processed foods through the issuance of Regulation No. 23 of 2023 (“Regulation 23/2023”), which has now simultaneously repealed and replaced Regulation No. 27 of 2017 on the Registration of Processed Foods, as amended through the issuance of Regulation No. 7 of 2021 (collectively referred to as “Regulation 27/2017”).[1]
