New Narcotics Classifications Stipulated

The Minister of Health has stipulated a new set of narcotics classifications in order to prevent the rise of substance abuse among the general public through the issuance of Regulation No. 30 of 2023 ("Regulation 30/2023"), which has been in force since 22 August 2023. The promulgation of Regulation 30/2023 simultaneously repealed and replaced Regulation No. 36 of 2022, which addressed similar matters.
In essence, narcotics have been classified into the following categories: 1) Class I; 2) Class II; and 3) Class III. Under the Appendix to Regulation 30/2023, 322 types of narcotics are now listed under three categories, as follows:
