Seven Communications and Information Technology Sector Frameworks Revoked in Regulatory Simplification Drive

  • In an effort to further simplify the various legal frameworks that apply within the communications and information technology sector, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology ("Minister") has issued Regulation No. 6 of 2023 ("Regulation 6/2023"), which revokes a total of seven frameworks and which has been in force since 11 September 2023.
  • The now-revoked legal frameworks listed above break down as follows: 1) Regulation of the Minister No. 03/PER/M.KOMINFO/1/2006 on Basic Supervision Within the Department of Communications and Information Technology; 2) Regulation of the Minister No. 31 of 2013 on Technical Requirements for Maritime Radar and Surveillance Radar Equipment and Devices; 3) Regulation of the Minister No. 40 of 2014 on the Delegation of Authority for the Implementation of One-Stop Integrated Services Within the Communication and Information Technology Sector to the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board; 4) Regulation of the Minister No. 30 of 2015 on Guidelines for the Organization of Government Internal Control Systems at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology; 5) Regulation of the Minister No. 18 of 2017 on Position Classes at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology; 6) Regulation of the Minister No. 10 of 2019 on Technical Requirements for Communications Equipment and/or Devices under the Internet Network Protocol; and 7) Regulation of the Minister No. 8 of 2021 on the Amendment to Regulation of the Minister No. 18 of 2017 on Position Classes at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
  • It should also be noted that the frameworks outlined in points (6) and (7) above have been deemed inapplicable since 1 January 2023.
