SRBI Now Included on List of Available Securities for PLM Fulfillment

  • The Board of Governors of Bank Indonesia (“BI”) recently issued Regulation No. 10 of 2023 ("Sixth Amendment") as the Sixth Amendment to Regulation of the BI Board of Governors No. 21/22/PADG/2019 ("Regulation 22/2019") on the Macroprudential Intermediation Ratio (Rasio Intermediasi Makroprudensial/RIM) and Macroprudential Liquidity Support (Penyangga Likuiditas Makroprudensial – "PLM") applicable for conventional commercial banks, sharia commercial banks and sharia business units, which has been in force since 15 September 2023.
  • Previously, Regulation 22/2019 featured a total of five forms of securities that counted in terms of the fulfillment of the PLM, specifically: 1) BI certificates (Sertifikat BI - "SBI"); 2) Sharia SBI (SBIS); 3) BI deposit certificates (Sertifikat Deposito BI/SDBI); 4) BI sharia bonds (Sukuk BI/SukBI); and 5) State securities (Surat Berharga Negara/SBN).
  • However, through the introduction of the Sixth Amendment, BI Rupiah Securities (Sekuritas Rupiah Bank Indonesia – "SRBI") have also been included in the above-listed securities and now count in terms of the fulfillment of the PLM. Consequently, any provisions that relate to securities and PLM fulfillment are also now applicable to SRBI.
