Updated Provisions on the Acceleration of e-Motorcycles Conversion Program Issued

Due to the accelerated roll-out of services under the battery-based electric motorcycles conversion program (collectively referred to as "Program"), the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Minister of Transportation and Chief of the National Police Force have issued Joint-Decree No. 204.K/EK.01/MEM.E/2023, PJ.850, KB/1/VII/2023, which has been in force since 28 July 2023.
The owners of motorcycles ("Owners") and/or conversion workshops (bengkel) may now input their identities (including motorcycle identities) into the Program’s digital platform. Said identities should include the following information: 1) Name of Owner/workshop; 2) Address; 3) Contact number. Meanwhile, motorcycle identities should include the following information: 1) Motor vehicle registration number; 2) Vehicle name and registration certificate (STNK); 3) Address of the motorcycle’s location; etc.
Based on the above-listed data, the Indonesian Police Force will issue “safe status” notifications for motorcycle that they have verified through registrations, as well as motorcycle identifications based on the suitability of data submitted through the Electronic Registration and Identification (ERI) system within one month of the submission of any application to participate in the Program.
The Minister of Transportation will perform the road-worthiness testing of all motorcycle which are proposed by conversion workshops. If said testing results in a “pass” designation, then a Type Testing Certificate (SUT) and Type Testing Registration Certificate (SRUT) will be issued.
Conversion workshops may submit applications for government assistance to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources along with applications for the processing of changes to vehicle papers (surat kendaraan) to the Indonesian Police Force.
