- The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi ("Minister"), is encouraging television journalists across the country to synergize with the government in order to provide accurate information to the Indonesian public through constructive and intelligent journalism. The Minister has highlighted the responsibility of journalists to weigh the positive impact of the information that they provide, while also constructing human stories from said information.
- While the Minister has stated that journalists have a responsibility to engage in good quality journalism, the Minister has also affirmed that professional journalists will have to contend with various challenges in order to provide high-quality journalism against a background of rapidly developing digital technologies.
- In this regard case, the Minister has stated that journalists must develop an awareness of their profession within the context of constructive journalism, which should be implemented not only through a focus on informing the public of various issues or problems but also on providing solution-based and other types of information with the overall aim of creating a positive impact.
- As a result, the Minister is encouraging all television journalists, particularly members of the Indonesian Television Journalists Association (Ikatan Jurnalis Televisi Indonesia/IJTI), to improve government-journalist collaborations in an effort to establish positive, constructive and cultured journalistic practices.
