Law on Health Finally Comes into Force

Pharmacies, Health Industry, and Foods & Drugs Standard
  • Having already been approved by the Indonesian House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakayat - "DPR") on 11  July 2023, the government has finally brought the Bill on Health ("Health Bill") into force through the issuance of Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health ("Health Law"). The promulgation of the Health Law on 8 August 2023 marks a new beginning in terms of the transformation of Indonesia’s healthcare system.
  • Despite the introduction of the Health Law taking almost a month since the date of its passing, no significant changes have been introduced to the provisions contained therein or the terminology used between those featured under the Health Bill and the newly promulgated Health Law.
