- Following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic status and the shift to endemic status in Indonesia, The government has now issued Regulation of President No. 48 of 2023 on the Termination of the Mitigation of the COVID-19 Pandemic ("Regulation 48/2023").
- Regulation 48/2023 officially disbands and terminates the Committee for the Handling of COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery ("Committee"). However, it should be noted that policies issued by the Committee, ministries/agencies and/or regional governments which specifically relate to the handling of COVID-19, as well as the strategy for the maintenance of national economic stability, will remain effective until all of the mandated rights and regulations provided under said policies have been fulfilled.
- Meanwhile, the handling of COVID-19 during the endemic phase will be carried out by the Ministry of Health in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Moreover, any COVID-19 medicines and vaccines that have already been procured will continue to be utilized until their expiration dates. Finally, any remaining COVID-19 medicines and vaccines which were previously licensed through Emergency Use Authorizations may be utilized on condition that they satisfy applicable standards and requirements relating to efficacy, safety and quality.
- Regulation 48/2023 has also revoked the following regulations: 1) Regulation of the President No. 82 of 2020 on the Committee, along with its various amendments; and 2) Regulation of the President No. 99 of 2020 on the Procurement of Vaccines and the Organization of Vaccinations for the Mitigation of COVID-19, along with its various amendments.
