- In order to ensure that purchase reference prices (harga acuan pembelian) at the manufacturing level and sales reference prices (harga acuan penjualan) at the level of consumers for sugar for general consumption ("Sugar") are in line with currently applicable production and distribution price structures, the National Food Agency (Badan Pangan Nasional – "BPN") has decided to adjust said reference prices through the issuance of Regulation No. 17 of 2023 ("Amendment"), which is an Amendment to Regulation of the BPN No. 11 of 2022, which previously listed applicable purchase and sales reference prices for various commodities ("Regulation 11/2022").
- While the applicable purchase and sales reference prices for other commodities listed under the Appendix to Regulation 11/2022 remain unchanged, the Amendment has now revised the applicable reference prices for Sugar as follows: 1) Sugar purchase reference price: Rp. 12,500/kg (previously Rp. 11,500); and 2) Sugar sales reference price: Rp. 14,500/kg (previously Rp. 13,500 for modern retailers) and Rp. 15,500/kg (previously Rp. 14,500) applicable within certain areas across the country (e.g. Maluku and Papua, as well as border areas, frontier areas and outermost and lesser developed regions).
- The Amendment has been in force since 24 July 2023.
