Government Passes Bill on Health

  • The recent Plenary Meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR) decided to pass the Bill on Health into Law on Tuesday, 11 July 2023.
  • Various aspects are addressed therein, including: 1) Standardization of primary services networking and public health laboratories; 2) Strengthening of facilities and infrastructure, as well as the utilization of telemedicine; 3) Prioritization of domestic raw materials and supporting research and development activities, as well as domestic production; 4) Provision of equal human resources for health; 5) Protection of health human resources; 6) Simplification of registration certification (surat tanda registrasi/STR) licensing procedures; and so forth. Eleven laws currently relate to the health sector and require adjustment, and these will be incorporated into the new Health Law, which comprises 20 chapters and 458 articles. (kemkes.go.id)
