Visa Services Adjusted as Indonesia Transitions to COVID-19 Endemic Status

As the COVID-19 pandemic status has now been revoked in Indonesia and the country is currently transitioning to COVID-19 endemic status, the Director-General of Immigration has now updated provisions that address visa services through the issuance of Circular No. IMI-0186.GR.01.01 of 2023 on Immigration Policies for Services for Visas and Stay Permits, Visas and Limited Stay Permits and Free Visit Visas During the Transition to COVID-19 Endemic Status, which has been in force since 27 June 2023.
The new circular states that provisions, requirements and procedures for the extension of different types of visas and stay permits are set out under the relevant regulations depending on the types of visas and stay permits concerned and that Regulation of the Minister of Law Minister No. 34 of 2021 on the Issuance of Visa and Stay Permit at Times of COVID-19 Pandemic and National Economic Recovery should therefore no longer be applied.
Furthermore, foreign citizens who secure stay permits for one-time travel or visit visas and who are aiming to submit applications for limited stay permits (izin tinggal terbatas/ITAS) are required to follow the mechanism for the conversion of stay permit status, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
It should also be noted that the promulgation of Circular 186/2023 simultaneously repeals and replaces the following regulations: 1) Circular of the Director-General No. IMI-0133.GR.01.01 of 2023 on Immigration Policies for Electronic Visas on Arrival, Visas on Arrival and Free Visit Visas to Support Sustainable Economy During the COVID-19 Pandemic; and 2) Easy-and-Quick Immigration Policy Guidelines for E-Visa Services and the Issuance of Visas Through Indonesian Representatives’ Offices to Support an Increase in Foreign Investment and Domestic Tourism No. IMI-0709.GR.01.01 of 2022.
