DPR Members Offer Support for Socialization of Electric Vehicles

Abdul Kadir, a member of DPR Commission VII, has voiced his support for government efforts to socialize and encourage the use of green electric vehicles by the general public, with the ultimate goal of reducing the level of carbon emissions that are released into the country’s air.
Furthermore, Mr. Kadir has also set out several initiatives that should be pursued by the government in order to boost the uptake of electric vehicles, specifically: 1) Increasing the number of programs that address the transition from high-emissions, fuel-oil-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, alongside a corresponding increase in the electric vehicle subsidy; 2) The government must complete preparations of the infrastructure required for the utilization electric vehicles; and 2) Developing sustainable strategies and considering the long-term need for electric vehicle incentives.
The above strategies are seen as offering the right solution for improving poor air quality and implementing renewable sources of energy as a part of efforts aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goal targets. (ANT)
