- In an effort to improve the quality of the workforce employed within the tourism sector, the government has finally issued Regulation No. 24 of 2023 on Work Competency Certification for the Tourism Sector ("Regulation 24/2023"), which specifically addresses the following areas: 1) Development of work competency standards; 2) Development of work competency certification schemes for the tourism sector; 3) Application of work competency certification for the tourism sector; and 4) Harmonization of Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia – "SKKNI") for the tourism sector and mutual recognition of work competency certification for the tourism sector.
- Meanwhile, the development of work competency certification comprises the following schemes: 1) Indonesia’s national qualifications framework; 2) National occupation; and 3) Clusters. Furthermore, the application of work competency certification within the tourism sector includes: 1) Enforcement; 2) Executors; and 3) Implementation of work competency certification for the tourism sector.
- Work competency certification for the tourism sector will be implemented by LSP that are operating within the tourism sector through: 1) Learning processes; 2) Learning outcomes; or 3) Results of work experience undertaken through tourism businesses. LSP operating within the tourism sector may implement work competency certification for this sector through the utilization of information technology.
