Bappebti Adjusts Lists of Futures Exchange Contracts and/or Other Derivative Contracts for the Transmission of Customer Orders to Overseas Futures Exchanges

  • In 2022, the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Badan Pengawas Perdagangan Berjangka Komoditi – “Bappebti”) previously determined a list of available futures exchange (“Exchanges”) contracts and/or other derivative contracts for the transmission of customer orders to overseas Exchanges (“List”) through the issuance of Regulation No. 2 of 2o22 (“Regulation 2/2022”). However, in an effort to further facilitate members of the general public who wish to engage in futures trading through overseas Exchanges, Bappebti recently adjusted the aforementioned List through the issuance of Regulation No. 2 of 2023 as an Amendment to Regulation 2/2022 (“Amendment”).
  • While the List that is comprehensively outlined under the Appendix to the Amendment features a total of 38 available Exchanges that were originally addressed under Regulation 2/2022, the Amendment has now divided up the rows set out under said List into two main sections, specifically: 1) Futures contract section; and 2) Other derivative contract section. Previously, the List that was originally featured under Regulation 2/2022 did not contain the section described in point (2) above.
  • In terms of the aforementioned other derivative contracts, the Amendment now features a number of such contracts that span three Exchanges, as follows: 1) ASX (Australian Securities Exchange): one available derivative contract; 2) NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations): 248 available derivative contracts; and 3) NYSE (New York Stock Exchange): 379 available derivative contracts.
  • The Amendment has been in force since 9 May 2023.
