Costs Discount for Conversion of Motorcycles with Combustion Engines to Battery-Powered Electric Motor Vehicles Stipulated at Rp 7 million for Each Motorcycle Conversion

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources ("Minister") has issued Regulation No. 3 of 2023 on General Guidelines of Government Assistance in the Conversion of Motorcycles with Combustion Engines to Battery-Powered Electric Motor Vehicles Program (collectively referred to as "Conversion Program"), which has been in force since 27 March 2023.
The government provides assistance for individuals as the assistance recipient in terms of Conversion Program through conversion garage [bengkel konversi] ("Garage"). Said Garage shall be a business entities operating in motorcycles garage/assembly that has secured certificate as Garage issued by the Minister of Transportation.
Said assistance shall be given in the form of conversion costs discount, which at least encompass the costs for battery pack, brushless DC (BLDC) of motor, and controller which to be adjusted with the details of electrical energy on battery and electric motor power. Moreover, the conversion costs have been determined at the maximum of Rp17 million for motorcycles with machine capacities ranging from 110 cc – 150 cc. Said discount will be given at Rp7 million for every conversion motorcycle, that to be given gradually.
