Indonesia Asks for WEF Support for ASEAN Chairmanship 2023 and Encourages Priority Programs

  • Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, recently met with Joo-Ok Lee, a member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum, in order to discuss the implementation of national priority economic programs, including programs that address the digital economy, employment, energy transition and electric vehicles.
  • During the meeting, Mr. Hartarto informed Mr. Lee of Indonesia’s Pre-Employment Card Program, which is one of the government’s priorities in relation to human resource development. In addition, in terms of the electric vehicle supply chain, the pair also discussed the broader concept of electronic mobility (e-mobility), which is not limited to electric vehicles but also includes the use of raw materials, investment cooperation, fiscal incentives and the use of e-mobility for public transportation.
  • Indonesia has also now asked for WEF support for the country’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2023 and has held various events that have involved input from global CEOs from the Southeast Asia region in order to showcase ASEAN’s success at maintaining economic growth. (ANT)
