Three Industrial Standard Formulations Issued: SNI, ST and PTC

  • The Minister of Industry ("Minister") has issued Regulation No. 45 of 2022 on Industrial Standardization ("Regulation 45/2022"), which states that industrial standardization planning should be stipulated by the Minister in reference to national standardization policies and national industrial policies.
  • Moreover, the formulation of the new industrial standards encompasses the following: 1) Indonesian National Standards (Standar Nasional Indonesia – "SNI"); 2) Technical Specifications (Spesifikasi Teknis – "ST"); and 3) Procedural Code (Pedoman Tata Cara – "PTC").
  • The mandatory enforcement of the SNI, ST and/or PTC is determined by the Minister and applies to industrial goods and/or services that are produced domestically and/or imported and that are marketed within the territory of Indonesia and/or industrial services whose activity processes are carried out within the territory Indonesia
  • Conformity assessments of SNI, ST and/or PTC which are subject to mandatory enforcement will be carried out by conformity assessment agencies (Lembaga Penilaian Kesesuaian – "LPK") that have been accredited in accordance with their scope and appointed by the Minister. Said appointed LPK include: 1) 1) Product certification agencies; 2) Testing laboratories; and 3) Inspection agencies.
  • In order to secure SNI certification or conformity certification, industrial companies or overseas manufacturers should submit conformity assessment applications through the National Industrial Information System (Sistem Informasi Industri Nasional/SIINas).
