Overview

The Indonesian Government finally issued Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (“PDP Law”) on 17 October 2022, which has the same content as that originally set out under the  Bill on Personal Data Protection (“PDP Bill”), which was issued via the official website of the Indonesian House of Representatives on 20 September 2022. One of the crucial areas addressed under the PDP Law is the misuse of the personal data (“Data”) of Data subjects (“Subjects”), which may ultimately lead to the imposition of criminal sanctions that take the form of terms of imprisonment or fines.
