New Obligations for Healthcare Facilities Introduced on the Utilization of Electronic Medical Records

In an effort to adjust to the digital transformations currently sweeping through the healthcare sector, the Minister of Health (“Minister”) recently updated provisions that address medical records through the issuance of Regulation No. 24 of 2022 (“Regulation 24/2022”), which will now serve as the legal framework for the implementation of electronic medical records by healthcare facilities.[1] The promulgation of Regulation 24/2022 also simultaneously repeals and replaces the previously applicable framework of Regulation of the Minister No. 269/MENKES/PER/III/2008 (“Previous Regulation”).[2]
