- A spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation ("Ministry"), Adita Irawati ("Spokesperson"), recently affirmed that the Ministry is currently in the process of preparing a set of regulations and mechanisms that will make Corona Virus Disease 2019 ("COVID-19") booster vaccinations a mandatory element of travel requirements. Moreover, the Spokesperson has stated that this decision was made in response to instructions issued by the president in order to further encourage the general public to receive said vaccinations.
- According to the Spokesperson, the Ministry’s policy of making booster vaccinations mandatory for travel is based on COVID-19 Handling Task Force circulars that address the various travel requirements that apply during the COVID-19 pandemic. The implementation of this policy will be supported by the establishment of several vaccination posts at various transportation nodes (simpul-simpul transportasi), including airports, bus terminals, railway stations and ports.
- Ultimately, the Ministry is continuing to urge the general public to remain cautious regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to maintain discipline as regards the implementation of strict health protocols, particularly in terms of mask wearing and the seeking out of booster vaccinations.
